FAQs

What is MUN?

MUN stands for Model United Nations. It is a simulation where participants represent countries and debate real-world issues addressed by the United Nations. Delegates follow professional procedures and structure, mirroring actual UN protocols.

How does a typical conference work?

The conference begins with an opening ceremony. Delegates are then split into committees, where lobbying and debating sessions take place. Resolutions are drafted collaboratively. The event concludes with a closing ceremony.

Full details are available in the delegate and chair handbooks.

Are awards given?

Yes. Chairs observe the delegates' debating skills and award the most outstanding participants. Awards are announced and distributed during the closing ceremony.

How can I prepare for the conference?

The minimum preparation is research. Delegate and chair handbooks are available on the website. In addition, chairs will provide topic papers, and it is the delegate’s responsibility to research them thoroughly and understand their assigned country’s position and policies.

What is the dress code?

Delegates must wear professional attire to maintain the formality of the conference.

  • Gentlemen: Formal suits, ties, and formal shoes.

  • Ladies: Formal suits, blazers, skirts, or dresses of suitable length — no shorter than one palm width above the knee.

Full dress code details can be found in the handbooks.

IST (International School of Toulouse) is located in Colomiers, well connected by trains and buses.

If you’re arriving in Toulouse by plane or train, take a train from Gare de Matabiau to the Lycée International station. From there, IST is just a 10-minute walk.

Do I need any MUN experience to join MUNIST?

No! MUNIST is open to both beginners and experienced delegates. Everyone is welcome.
